Following the resignation of the former Mayor, who is now the current President, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the position is now vacant. Additionally, three Council member seats for Maafannu South, Henveiru Central, and Henveiru South constituencies are also up for grabs, as the previous officeholders stepped down to assume senior roles in the current administration.
Interested candidates can submit their applications starting from November 30, with the deadline set for next Monday, December 4. The party primary, where candidates will be chosen, is scheduled to take place on December 9.
It is noteworthy that only party members who have joined before December 1 are eligible to participate in the primaries and cast their votes to determine the final candidates for the respective positions.
