The announcement was made on September 3, 2023.
Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar confirmed that the process of lighting the road commenced yesterday evening, with lights now shining from the Hithadhoo Stadium area to the Addu Police Academy.
He further stated that The link road was lit last night and that they are working to ensure that the entire stretch of the link road is fully illuminated within this month.
However, it’s worth noting that the area connecting Maradhoo will not receive lighting, but the illumination will extend up to Hankede Bridge.
The lack of lighting along the Addu Link Road has been a persistent concern for the local population. This development is expected to address these long-standing grievances, making the road safer and more accessible for residents and visitors alike.
The Addu Link Road’s construction was made possible through a loan of $7.9 million from the Islamic Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
