President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued a call for all Maldivians to give priority to the usage of the Dhivehi language across various domains including offices, news channels, education, and communication. This appeal was made during his address on Dhivehi Language Day, which was commemorated yesterday.

Encouraging individuals to embrace their linguistic heritage, he urged the public to value their mother tongue while also acquiring proficiency in other languages and fields of knowledge.
Additionally, President Dr Muizzu stressed the importance of preserving the Maldivian identity, suggesting that the nation should take pride in its indigenous heritage.
The President also underscored the significance of the nationalism restoration programme initiated by the current administration, outlining its potential benefits during his address.
During the commemoration, President Dr Muizzu paid tribute to the late Hussain Salahuddin and drew lessons from his life. He highlighted the importance of learning the local language, integrating knowledge from other languages into the local context, and achieving success in one’s mother tongue as a means to proficiency in other languages and areas of expertise.
