President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended the jurisdictions of Noonu Maafaru, Alif Alif Bodufolhudhoo, and Alif Dhaal Mahibadhoo to include uninhabited islands near these islands respectively.
President Muizzu made these changes through three resolutions to amend the registry of inhabited islands under powers granted to the President in Chapter 8 of the constitution and the Decentralisation Act of 2010.
The resolutions, which were signed and posted in the government gazette today, decreed that the uninhabited island of Maafarufalhu in South Ari Atoll will be included within the jurisdiction of Alif Dhaal Mahibdahoo.
Similarly, the second resolution decreed that the island of Velidhoo Dhiggaa in North Ari Atoll would be included within the jurisdiction of Alif Alif Bodufolhudhoo.
Furthermore, the islands Farumuli and Kandinmaa Huraa in Noonu Atoll were included within the jurisdiction of Noonu Maafaru.
