President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued an official decree amending the geographic jurisdiction of Gaafu Dhaalu Hoan’dedhdhoo Administrative Region through the separation of Gaafu Dhaalu Kadevarehaa from its jurisdiction.
According to the President’s Office, this decision aligns with the President’s broader pledge to foster integrated tourism development in the southern region of Huvadhu Atoll, which was formalised under a Presidential Decree today.
The amendment was made under the authority granted to the President under the Decentralisation Act which allows the President to determine and designate the jurisdictions of both City and Island Councils.
In accordance with the decree, a revised chart reflecting the updated geographic jurisdiction of GDh Hoan’dedhdhoo has been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
