Saif Fathih Expresses Interest in Male’ City Mayor Position

Mohamed Saif Fathih, a member of The Democrats (TD), has announced his intention to run for the position of Male’ City Mayor, in the wake of Male’ City’s current mayor, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, handing his mayoral responsibilities to Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh.
With Muizzu set to be sworn in as president on the 17th of November, several individuals expressed their interest in his former position of Mayor of Male’ City.

Speaking in an interview to ‘Dhauru Media’ today, Saif confirmed his intentions, stating that he was “intending to run” for the mayoral post.
Saif’s announcement suggested his willingness to compete in the TD primary elections when the mayoral race opens within the party.
He further indicated that he would formally launch his campaign if he secured the party’s nomination.
In his corner, Saif has garnered support from supporters on the social media platform ‘X’, who are rallying behind his bid for Male’ City Mayor.
Supporters describe him as an active, honest, and well-educated young candidate who could bring fresh perspectives to the role.
Notably, Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof, representing the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), also expressed his interest in the Mayoral seat yesterday.
