Seven Arrested in Noonu Atoll Drug Operation
Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that seven individuals have been arrested during a drug operation in Noonu Atoll Velidhoo.
The operation, carried out by the Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Counter Narcotics Intelligence, and North Police Division, involved the search of multiple residences. During the searches, officers reportedly discovered over one kilogram of suspected illegal drugs.

In addition to the drugs, police seized over MVR 50,000 and an undisclosed amount of US dollars from the suspects.
Following court appearances, one individual was released, while another was remanded in custody for eight days. The remaining five suspects were remanded for five days.
Those arrested include Ahmed Murshid, Abdullah Nishad, Ahmed Asim, Ahmed Naushad, Ali Rasheed, and Mohamed Maaidh.
Police Detain Two Men in Hiyaa Flat
Police have arrested two men following an emergency call about a woman crying for help inside a Hiyaa flat late on Thursday night.
Officers responded to reports of a woman screaming and, despite initial resistance from a man who answered the door, forcibly entered the apartment to rescue her.
The case remains under investigation. The arrested individuals, Ahmed Uwais and Mohamed Mumeeth, have not yet had their connection to the woman or the motive for the distress disclosed.
Driver Arrested for Attempting to Flee from Police Checkpoint
Hassan Saeed, 38, of Sithuraa, Raa atoll Alifushi, was arrested last night after attempting to evade a police checkpoint. Saeed was found driving without a licence and at high speeds in Hulhumale’. When officers attempted to stop him, he initially refused to cooperate and locked himself inside the car.
The vehicle was registered to the wrong zone and was subsequently towed. Saeed’s actions have led to further scrutiny by the police, who are conducting special traffic operations in response to recent road accidents.
Mugger Arrested Following Theft of Phone and Wallet
Ismail Saaif, 39, of Habibihap, Raa atoll Alifushi, has been arrested for mugging a woman and stealing her phone and wallet while riding a stolen motorcycle.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Lonuziyaraiy Magu. Police recovered the stolen items and the motorcycle, which has been seized. Saaif is now in custody facing charges related to the theft.
Individual Arrested for House Theft in Male’
In a separate case, police have arrested an individual on charges of stealing from a house in Male’ city. Further details regarding the suspect and the circumstances of the theft have not yet been released.
