Solih Intends to Advocate for Presidential System of Governance

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared his commitment to advocating for a presidential system if there is a referendum to change the governance system, during the MDP National Assembly meeting, yesterday.

Highlighting his endorsement for the presidential system, President Solih asserted that he firmly believes it to be the most advantageous system for the Maldives.

He further stated his willingness to actively promote a presidential system if the systematic vote confirms the public’s desire for this change.

While acknowledging that both parliamentary and presidential systems have their respective merits and drawbacks, President Solih expressed his personal preference for the presidential system, citing it as the optimal choice for the nation.

“I support the presidential system,” affirmed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, as he continued to advocate for the merits of this system in the context of the Maldives’ unique political landscape.
