The Commission will ascertain the facts surrounding the incident, review the actions of relevant institutions, identify necessary measures, and ensure a fair and impartial inquiry.

The President has appointed the following members to the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry:

  1. Dr Mohamed Munavvar, G. Hassankaarige
  2. Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Mohamed, V. Almaan
  3. Dr Mohamed Habeeb, Seesanmaage, S. Hithadhoo

Dr Mohamed Munavvar has been appointed as the President of the Commission.

Under the Decree, the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry has been granted the following powers and privileges:

  • To seek cooperation and assistance from all state institutions, agencies, and individuals as necessary;

  • To exercise the investigative powers accorded to law enforcement agencies under the Criminal Procedure Act (Law No. 12/2016);
