Speaking at the seminar, Minister Rafiu highlighted the increased risk of injuries associated with the rising number of sports activities in the nation. He emphasised the need for more medical professionals to meet the growing demand for treatment.

The minister also underlined the government’s ongoing efforts to build a healthier and more active society, mentioning that efforts are underway to finalise agreements with Malaysia to train doctors specifically in treating sports injuries. Under these agreements, local doctors will receive comprehensive training from Malaysian universities.

The seminar, held from 26 to 27 June, featured discussions with several experts on the injuries athletes often sustain. These discussions included the challenges of obtaining treatment for joint pain, particularly in the shoulders and knees.
