Following allegations published in the “Dhiyares” newspaper concerning STELCO (State Electric Company) implementing power cuts on election day in predominantly opposition areas within Hulhumale Phase 2, STELCO has issued an official statement addressing these claims.

STELCO stated any planned power outages necessary for grid upgrades are consistently communicated through the company’s official social media channels and established media outlets.

It is important to note that, as of now, no such notification regarding power interruptions in the Hiyaa flats area has been issued.

The company asserts that spreading false information about its operations can lead to unnecessary discourse among the public.

STELCO further stated that it is essential to uphold the integrity of the democratic process, particularly with a presidential election. Any actions that might infringe upon the rights of citizens to exercise their voting privileges are not only irresponsible but also detrimental to democratic ideals.

The company stated that it is deeply interconnected with the lives of countless individuals, and it urges responsible reporting on matters concerning its operations.
