State Trading Organisation (STO) has cautioned customers about counterfeit Makita products circulating in the Maldivian market, urging buyers to verify authenticity before making purchases.
In a press release issued on 30th January 2025, STO, the exclusive distributor of Makita brand products in the Maldives, reaffirmed its commitment to providing genuine and high-quality products. The company highlighted that an increase in the import of Makita products has been accompanied by the emergence of counterfeit versions, which may not meet safety and performance standards.

STO advised customers to purchase Makita products only from its outlets or authorised personnel to ensure authenticity. The company also stated that its service centre would provide after-sales support exclusively for Makita products purchased through STO or its authorised agents.
