Sultan Park Renovation Underway, Says Construction Minister
Sultan Park
Minister of Construction, Housing & Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib has started cleaning and planning the renovation of Sultan Park following its transfer under the ministry’s authority.
The park, which had been partially closed by the Malé City Council for renovation early last year, saw no progress on the work.
Minister Muthhalib stated that Sultan Park was officially transferred to the Ministry of Housing on 19 February after a request from the Malé City Council. The transfer followed concerns over the park’s prolonged partial closure, criminal activity on the premises, and mosquito breeding.
The ministry has now initiated cleaning efforts and is working on planning the park’s renovation. Minister Muthhalib also noted that the ministry is preparing a site survey drawing for the park, as no such drawing existed previously. He mentioned that the renovation plan is nearing completion, with work expected to begin soon.
