Thieves Rob Electronics Shop in Male’, Police Arrests 47-Year-Old

Two thieves stole bags of mobile phones during a break-in at Xeonmobiles in Majeedhee Magu, Male City, in the early hours of this morning, according to the Maldives Police Services (MPS). A 47-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident, as investigations continue.

According to MPS, the incident was reported to the police at around 05:35 a.m., and a Maldivian male has been arrested.

CCTV footage indicates at least two individuals were involved. A man wearing a cap and a striped t-shirt was seen breaking the store’s glass door before leaving without entering. Moments later, at approximately 05:40 am, a second man, dressed in a black t-shirt, entered the store and began gathering merchandise.

Inside, the second suspect pried open the cash register but reportedly found no cash. Instead, he filled bags with mobile phones from display racks, spending about five minutes in the store. As he exited, several phones fell from his bags, which he quickly retrieved.

Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing. CCTV footage also captured passersby and vehicles on the road, but no one intervened during the theft.
