Three Arrested in Drug Operation in Malé

Three individuals were arrested in Malé during a drug operation conducted on 20th March following a tip-off received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
The suspects were identified as Mohammad Shaniz, 46, from Naseemeege, S. Maradhoo Feydhoo; Mohammad Tibaq, 39, from M. Cyris, Malé; and Farida Abdul Rahman, 35, from Janbuge, V. Rakidhoo. They were taken into custody in connection with the alleged use, possession and trafficking of drugs.

As part of the operation, officers from the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement searched an apartment in Maafannu, where they recovered suspected drugs weighing more than 1.5 kg.
The three individuals were presented before the Criminal Court for a decision on their remand. The court ordered the detention of Mohammad Tibaq and Farida Abdul Rahman for 15 days, while Mohammad Shaniz was remanded in custody for 5 days.
