Two Drug Mules Arrested in Maldives with Narcotics Worth MVR 5.5 Million
Maldives Customs Service announced the arrest of two local men and the confiscation of narcotics with a street value of MVR 5.5 million.
The men, aged 41 and 21, arrived in the Maldives from Thailand last Thursday. Customs officials reported that both individuals displayed erratic behaviour, prompting a search during which the contraband was discovered concealed on their bodies.
Preliminary tests identified the substances as heroin and mephedrone, weighing 0.32 kilograms and 2.1 kilograms, respectively. The total weight of the items, including packaging, was 2.4 kilograms.
The two men, along with the confiscated drugs, have been handed over to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
