Two Major Generals of MNDF Retires

Major General Wais Waheed and Major General Hamid Shafeeg of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), have officially retired, marking the culmination of over three decades of dedicated service.

Major General Wais Waheed, a stalwart who joined MNDF on June 19, 1989, has completed an impressive 34-year tenure within the force. Notably, at the time of his retirement, Major General Waheed held the esteemed position of Commanding Officer of MNDF’s Marine Corps and College of Defense and Security Studies.

Simultaneously, Major General Hamid Shafeeg, whose service began on March 11, 1990, concluded his commendable 33-year career with MNDF. At the point of his retirement, Major General Shafeeg served as the Commandant of MNDF’s Service Corps.

It is noteworthy that the position of Major General stands as the third-highest rank within the MNDF officer hierarchy.
