Villa College Hosts Graduation Ceremony, Honouring Over 1,200 Graduates

Villa College held its graduation ceremonies yesterday, celebrating the achievements of 1,237 students who completed various programmes this year.

The events comprised two sessions dedicated to awarding certificates to the graduates. In the morning ceremony, students from the Faculty of Educational Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Sharia and Law, Qasim Ibrahim School of Business, and School of Computer Studies received their diplomas. The afternoon session featured graduates from the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, School of Psychology, and additional faculties, including Educational Studies, Sharia and Law, Health Sciences, and Business.

During the ceremonies, it was announced that this year’s graduates had completed a total of 53 programmes. Of these, 15 were delivered in collaboration with the University of the West of England, while 38 were conducted directly by Villa College. Notably, female students comprised 71 percent of the graduating cohort, while male students accounted for 29 percent.

Dr Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector of Villa College, attended the ceremonies and encouraged graduates to pursue their academic journeys further. He noted a 10 percent increase in the number of graduates compared to the previous year, emphasising the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Dr Ahmed Anwar, Rector of Villa College, highlighted that the institution’s programmes are designed to equip students with essential attributes, including the ability to acquire knowledge, a commitment to continuous improvement, and technical skills that will benefit their futures.

The ceremonies also welcomed Steven West, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England, who praised Villa College as one of the premier educational institutions in the Maldives. The chief guest of the ceremony was Housing Minister Dr Haidar, who, along with Chairman of Villa Qasim Ibrahim, was in attendance to celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments.
