The KIX Maldives National Uptake Forum 2024, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education and Villa College, has commenced.

This forum is part of the broader initiative led by the Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Asia and Pacific (EMAP) Hub, aimed at fostering cross-country knowledge exchange and collaboration among education stakeholders in Global Partnership for Education (GPE) partner countries within the EMAP region.

In the South Asia, Middle East and North Africa (SAMENA) Sub-Region, the Maldives has been identified as a key participant due to its active involvement in various KIX EMAP Hub activities and its participation in two KIX research projects. This engagement promises valuable knowledge exchange opportunities during the upcoming uptake forum.

The objectives of the KIX Maldives National Uptake Forum include sharing KIX initiatives in the Maldives, strengthening connections with ongoing GPE efforts, and fostering networking between KIX and local institutions.

Anticipated to host 50-70 participants from diverse backgrounds including education ministry officials, representatives from public and private institutions, civil society, and KIX research projects, the forum aims to facilitate rich discussions on education policy and implementation.

Structured around keynote speeches and thematic sessions, the forum will feature presentations highlighting challenges and experiences in education policy uptake, alongside discussions on KIX activities within the country. The event will also provide opportunities for participants to engage in dialogue, pose questions, and identify potential synergies with national education strategies.

Operating through regional hubs such as the KIX EMAP Hub, which encompasses 36 GPE partner countries including the Maldives, KIX facilitates tailored support to address the diverse educational landscapes within each region. The SAMENA Sub-Region, to which Maldives belongs, comprises eight countries, each with its unique educational challenges and priorities.

The KIX Maldives National Uptake Forum 2024 serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts towards enhancing education outcomes and fostering knowledge exchange in the region.
