WAMCO to Implement Gate Fee at Waste Management Sites from August

The Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has announced plans to introduce a gate fee for customers at its sites in Maafushi, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Thinadhoo City, starting from August.

WAMCO has provided services to registered residents of these three islands since June, offering the initial month at no charge. Billing for services provided in July will commence in the first week of August.

Residents in Maafushi, Kulhudhuffushi, and Thinadhoo will incur a monthly fee of approximately USD 10 per household for waste management services. Businesses will be charged USD 0.017 per litre in Maafushi and USD 0.064 per litre in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi.

In addition, WAMCO sites in Maafushi will impose a charge of USD 32 per tonne of waste, while sites in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi will charge USD 7 per tonne. A gate fee of USD 172 will also be applied to these three islands.
