Woman Arrested for Knifepoint Robbery in Male’

A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Male’ on Wednesday following an incident in which she allegedly robbed a Bangladeshi worker at knifepoint. The suspect has been identified as Fathimath Ali of Ma. Fortune, K. Male’.

According to police reports, Fathimath is believed to have lured the victim to a residence in the Galolhu district under pretences. Once there, she reportedly threatened him with a knife and robbed him. The incident occurred at approximately 10:08 pm.

Fathimath appeared before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing on Thursday, where she was ordered to remain in custody for 15 days. The police are also searching for a male accomplice, identified as a Maldivian, although details of the stolen items have not been disclosed.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. 

Three Arrested in Thaa Atoll Drug Operation

Three individuals have been arrested following an anti-narcotics operation in Thaa Atoll. The operation, which occurred on 31st October, was led by the Drug Enforcement Department, Counter Narcotics Intelligence, and Thaa Atoll Police.

During the raid, authorities seized 19 rubber packets and an empty film container with suspected drugs. The operation involved extensive searches of properties, including three houses in Veymandoo and six in Thimarafushi.

The suspects have been identified as 35-year-old Abdulla Salaah from Star, Thimarafushi, 27-year-old Hassan Waheed from Bluebell, Dhaalu Hulhudheli, and 24-year-old Anoof Ahmed from Falsaage, Thimarafushi. Abdulla Salaah and Hassan Waheed were remanded in custody for 10 days, while Anoof Ahmed received eight days. 

Authorities are still investigating the case.
