“Kamana” Reveals Official Poster, Launches Campaign Against Domestic Violence
The poster for the upcoming Dhivehi film "Kamana" has just been unveiled. In conjunction with the poster release on Thursday, the filmmakers have launched a powerful social awareness campaign against domestic violence.
The film's director, Hussain Munawwar, is on a mission to shed light on the pervasive issue of domestic violence in Maldivian society - an issue he believes has only continued to grow over time. Hitting theatres on August 27th, the film's storyline is based on the true story of a young Maldivian woman facing domestic violence.
"A truly loving partner will not be violent with you," said the film's lead actress, Azza, in a video shared on TikTok. She emphasised that violence is never a one-time occurrence and is a sign to leave the relationship.

The film also boasts an ensemble cast that includes Yousuf Shafiu (Yuppe), Asha, Dhara Rasheed, Mohammed Manik, and Natasha.
Azza's transformative portrayal of Rimsha is expected to mark a significant departure from her previous roles.
"Kamana" was produced by Shaniz Ali and Hussain Munawwar and presented by Kid Production and Saturn Studios. Mahdi Ahmed crafted the screenplay based on a story by Rishfa Ali.
