These cakes are exactly what they sound like — crepes layered between pastry cream, ganache, or whipped cream to form a cake. These cakes are frequently referred to as "mille" (a thousand) cakes because of the seemingly endless layers they create. In October 2022, Mariyam Almas Shihab founded Oh Crepes after falling in love with crepe cakes while eating one in Malaysia. Making crepe cakes was the ideal solution for her because of the simplicity of doing so, even without years of baking experience, and the desire to make money from home. Additionally, making crepe cakes needed repetition and organization, which just fit her perfectly.
“Crepe cakes in my opinion truly are a thing of beauty; the excitement that comes from cutting the cake which reveals the layers stacked together is a perfect addition to make any celebration more special.” Almas said.
The founder's preferences, Nutella and Vanilla, served as the inspiration for Oh Crepes' flavors. They also offer Coco Pandan crepe cakes, which feature tastes of pandan and coconut milk in both the crepes and the cream layers, to provide a Maldivian touch
There are many other flavors available, but the most popular flavor combinations are vanilla rainbow strawberries and Nutella and strawberries because of their bold flavor and luscious creaminess.
Mocha would come in second. Despite the fact that mocha is not frequently ordered, those who have tried it have rated it as the best flavor overall. Photogenic rainbow crepe cakes are also one of the favorites as it is an absolute delight to see the beautiful colors while cutting into the cake.
One of Oh crepe’s newly introduced flavors are Matcha Raspberry and the response for that has also been great.
Although Mini Crepe Cakes are more popular than Large Crepe Cakes, Oh Crepe also provides a variety of sizes. Their mini crepe cakes are 5 inches approximately and has 12 layers, it is packed into a 6 inch bento box. Meanwhile their large crepe cakes are 7 inches approximately and has 18 layers, it is packed into a 10 inch cake box.
In the future, Oh crepe is looking forward to introducing a new item inspired by the theme of Korean dessert box early next year. In addition to that, founder Almas says she is constantly trying to improve her existing cakes to offer her customers with the best.
She says that she finds it amazing that she and others are able to create business for anything these days and it how it is easy to reach potential customers. Though it takes constant effort to keep customers engaged.
