Niam | Woman Diagnosed with Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus (called the endometrium) grows outside of the uterus. This tissue can grow on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, bowel, and other pelvic organs, causing pain and inflammation.
It affects approximately 1 in 10 women worldwide.
This is Niam’s story, a woman who was diagnosed with Endometriosis. She talks about how the diagnosis impacted her life as well as how society’s perception of women colours their experiences.
This message is in partnership with the Endometriosis Association of Maldives.
