Aishath, Woman Diagnosed with Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus (called the endometrium) grows outside of the uterus. This tissue can grow on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, bowel, and other pelvic organs, causing pain and inflammation.
It affects approximately 1 in 10 women worldwide.
This is Aishath’s story, a woman who was diagnosed with Endometriosis. She prefers not to show her face for the interview.
For Aishath, the treatment that worked best was Maldivian traditional medicine (dhivehi beys.)
This message is in partnership with the Endometriosis Association of Maldives.
