The monument park dedicated to the Sinamale’ Bridge, the largest infrastructure project ever completed in the Maldives, was officially inaugurated yesterday.

A special ceremony was held, attended by Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib, and the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin. During the event, visitors were provided with an opportunity to explore photographs and information detailing the various stages of the bridge’s construction and development.

Dr Muththalib emphasised the importance of sharing details about the project with the public, especially given that it was partially funded by a significant grant from the Chinese government. He noted that the monument park would serve as a valuable resource for the public to learn more about the project.

Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin spoke about the bridge as a symbol of the strong friendship between the Maldives and China, highlighting the economic benefits the structure has brought to the island nation.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who played a key role in the project during his tenure as Housing Minister under former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, was also acknowledged for his contributions to the successful completion of the Sinamale’ Bridge.
