Kasabu by Hidha
Hidha, 43 years old, first learned how to weave the traditional Kasabu in 2017 by doing a basic course. After much practice, she won first place of Fannu Expo 2019. Hidha considers hand-weaving these intricate patterns not just preserving our cultural heritage, but therapeutic as well.
Hidha now runs an online store full-time Kasabu_by Hidha, selling products such as cushion covers and bracelets laced with these authentic Kasabu embroidery, which has garnered the attention of not just tourists but locals as well.
Her hope is to revive this fading form of traditional art and pass it down for the generations to come. Her efforts into preventing the art from being lost to history include conducting classes at home with a couple of curious students.
