Rauha, the Fitness Advocate

MV Plus | August 29, 2021

Mariyam Rauha Rauf, 21 years old says that her interest in fitness began for many reasons.

One being her mental health; where she has been dealing with depression and severe anxiety from a very young age onwards. When Rauha was diagnosed with gout arthritis aged 17, she knew that she had to start taking care of herself mentally, physically and emotionally.

Rauha said that fitness is quite weird, when you reach your goals, you find more goals to reach, so it’s never ending. She started with a body weight of 70kg, and said she was inactive for about 2 years at the time.

Rauha was a sporty girl growing up so fitness had always been a really big part of her life. So to get where she’s at now, it took her about 3 years of consistency and climbing up that fitness ladder.

Rauha started with endurance workout at the beginning of her journey, which kick-started her weight loss and @kasrathu.Maldives kept her in check. She says that she is a resistance training junkie now.

It took her time to explore what she likes and what she wanted to achieve for her body and soul, so Rauha recommend that people should always try something new when you feel like something isn’t working for you.
Fitness itself is a broad subject, it’s not just gym, its yoga, its boot camps, water aerobics classes and all.

Rauha says that she transformed her life through fitness for her mental and physical health, to feel good inside and out, to walk to places without her feet swelling up, to help her insomnia at night, to feel strong and confident with herself.

In the future, Rauha hopes to create a brand and become its face. She is looking to pursue this full time, but as of now she’s still on the exploration phase where she’s discovering how to create a brand and how to go about it.

Rauha urges people to follow the 14/91 day rule! 14 days of consistencies to create a habit and 91 day rule to create a lifestyle. In our society, she believes that most people come to the gym for a goal and then stop when theiy achieve it. Fitness should be a lifestyle, says Rauha, being active is a must for a healthy, prolonged life.

Rauha goes on to say that consistency, determination and beating the person you were yesterday should be your eternal goal.
