Ameen, the Young Photographer at the Parliament
Ameen Fahmy, the 24 year old photographer at the People’s Majlis of Maldives.
Ameen says that since childhood, he was always drawn to photography. When Ameen was 12 years old, his mom had a Sony Ericsson W880i phone from which he first started shooting photos.
His photography journey started when he got his first smartphone back in 2013. Ameen joined Instagram in the same year and started uploading photos shot by his Sony Xperia S. Although his gears have changed over the past years, he has never stopped shootin.
When Ameen got the opportunity to join Vaguthu as a photojournalist in 2016, many doubted him and he himself doubted whether he could do this for a living let alone as a job.
Because he really wanted to be a recognizable photographer, Ameen says that he’s not sure what the future holds but he’s ready to go further and be better at what he does and he wants to keep doing this and keep shooting and inspiring others.
Ameen never stopped photography just because he didn’t have a $1000 dollar camera when he first started. He shot with what he had at the time. His goal was to prove that photography is not limited by the equipment you have.
