The National Art Gallery has been a vibrant hub since July 9, hosting the seventh edition of “Unveiling Visions,” renowned as the Maldives’ annual contemporary art event. Organised by the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC), the exhibition has captivated visitors with a diverse array of works by both emerging talents and established artists.
Last night, the exhibition President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu graced the event. In a gesture of support, he shared that MVR 25 million would be allocated from the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts budget to bolster the efforts of local artists, subject to guidelines.
Addressing attendees at the National Art Gallery, the President underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to nurturing and promoting Maldivian artistic prowess, a cornerstone of their manifesto. He outlined plans for a dedicated creative space in Hulhumale’ and initiatives to facilitate exhibitions across various islands, along with opportunities for international exposure.
A testament to its popularity, Unveiling Visions 2024 featured works from 105 artists meticulously selected by MAC from over 200 applications across diverse genres like drawing, painting, mixed media, calligraphy, and installations.
