The Fifth Maldives Marine Science Symposium in Pictures
The Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) hosted the Fifth Maldives Marine Science Symposium in Male’ last week, bringing together marine researchers from across the country.
This biennial event serves as a key platform for sharing the latest findings in marine research. This year’s symposium featured 35 oral presentations and 28 poster presentations, covering a wide array of topics such as coral and reef ecology, fisheries and aquaculture, sharks and rays, marine megafauna, mangroves, seagrasses, and other critical marine subjects.
The research showcased included contributions from various research and conservation non-profit organizations, resort marine biologists as well as MMRI and the Maldives National University.
The two-day event was a gathering of several young Maldivians dedicated to advancing ocean sciences in the country.
